GOP Supreme Court justice Amy Coney Hotdog: self-hating woman

Amy Coney Barrett voted with creepy, misogynistic Republican white men to overturn ROE v. WADE and kill a woman's right to make her own medical decisions. Barrett did not issue her legal opinon when her GOP buddies overturned ROE until today.

Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett defends the landmark vote to overturn Roe v. Wade in her forthcoming memoir.

CNN got an advance look at Listening to the Law, in which Coney Barrett makes the case that the 1973 law "was getting ahead of the people" in regard to how they viewed abortion. A key line:

"The Court's role is to respect the choices that the people have agreed upon, not to tell them what they should agree to," she writes.

Coney Barrett asserts that the "evidence does not show that the American people have traditionally considered the right to obtain an abortion so fundamental to liberty that it 'goes without saying' in the Constitution."

In fact, she adds, "the evidence cuts in the opposite direction. Abortion not only lacked long-standing protection in American law—it had long been forbidden."

She cites the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's own criticisms of the precedent, though Ginsburg ultimately supported abortion rights.

The book is out on Sept. 9. CNN has more details from it, as Coney Barrett offers a look at the workings of the court, though without revealing internal deliberations.

She also reflects on the sometimes deliberate ambiguity in Supreme Court opinions, describing the pragmatic need to find consensus, even at the expense of clarity.

"Skirting issues is sometimes the price of finding common ground—though it's frustrating to delete points I'd like to make."

DailyBeastie: Amy Coney Barrett is embarrassing herself by demonstrating how far removed and out of touch Barrett is with women and mainstream America.

Barrett speaks very smugly AS IF the great majority of all Americans did NOT support and believe in a woman's right to make her own medical decisions without federal intervention.

Literally every poll in the past 20 years shows that the vast majority of voters do in fact support ROE v. WADE and a woman's constitutional right to choose.

Barrett jumped further down the misogynist rabbit hole when Barrett claimed:

"evidence does not show that the American people have traditionally considered the right to obtain an abortion so fundamental to liberty that it 'goes without saying' in the Constitution."

In fact, she adds, "the evidence cuts in the opposite direction. Abortion not only lacked long-standing protection in American law—it had long been forbidden."

AMY CONEY HOTDOG IS WRONG!!! There are many unenumerated rights and a woman's constitutional right to choose was a longstanding unenumerated constitutional right for about 50 years, so why does Barrett claim that a woman's right to choose was NOT a longstanding U.S. Constitutional right that American women have relied upon for about fifty years?

Perhaps because she resides deep, deep inside the right wing echo chamber.

CNN's Wolf Blitzer covers Amy Coney Barrett; however, the female CNN pundit echos Barrett's lie that abortion is not popular and is a minority position:

Support for legal abortion remains strong

Sixty-four percent of the public say abortion should be legal in all or most cases, down slightly from 2024, but about the same as the results from AP-NORC surveys in 2022 and 2023.
