Angry White Male CDC Shooter - Joe White Shoots, Kills Policeman, fires over 500 rounds

ATLANTA (AP) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has identified the man who opened fire at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as 30-year-old Patrick Joseph White of Kennesaw, Georgia.

The GBI statement says White died and Officer David Rose with the DeKalb County Police Department was shot and killed during the shooting Friday.

The shooter opened fire at the CDC headquarters from across the street, striking windows across the sprawling campus, mortally wounding the officer and littering the sidewalk outside a CVS pharmacy with bullet casings. The attack prompted a massive law enforcement response to one of the nation’s most prominent public health institutions.

At least four CDC buildings were hit, Director Susan Monarez said in a post on X. Images shared by employees showed multiple agency buildings with bullet-pocked windows, underscoring the breadth of the damage to a site where thousands of scientists and staff work on critical disease research.

The CVS remained closed Saturday morning, with an apparent bullet hole in its front door. A lone bouquet was placed outside the building.

Gun advocates will always frame this as a mental health issue - not a gun issue.

Gun advocates are wrong. This is a GUN ISSUE.

In particular, the issue of widespread gun availability.

There's a life and death difference between unarmed mental heath issues and armed mental health issues.

Personal mental health issues suddenly metasticize into emergency public health issues with the pull of a trigger of a semi-automatic gun.

Had Joe White got angry and got into a fistfight with campus police or teachers, you could call this a mental health issue; but when it involves semi-automatic guns, it's a semi-automatic guns issue.

Make no mistake about it, the nationwide, widespread availability of semi-automatic guns is THE PROBLEM when it comes to nationwide gun violence in America.

We The People Need a National Gun Ban of semi-automatic hand guns and semi-automatic rifles.

This tragedy was completely unnecessary and absolutely preventable.

How? By increasing national government monitoring of suspicious individuals?

By increasing mental health funding and services?

We always need more federal funding for mental health services, but even that won't stop nationwide gun violence and mass murder.

No one - and I do mean no one person or agency can predict when a person will grab a gun and start killing people with it.

Over 80% of all mass shooters lawfully obtained their semi-automatic weapons AND had no known mental health issues or reports.

Red flag laws, age restrictions and gun storage laws do NOT address the fact that U.S. gun manufacturers produce, market and sell over four million new guns annually.

Our nation's gun violence problem is an issue of widespread availability of semi-automatic hand guns and semi-automatic rifles.

We The People need a nationwide semi-automatic gun ban, a federal gun buyback program and strict confiscation laws.

We don't have to re-invent the wheel here when it comes to a nation of peoples deciding they have had enough gun violence and mass murder to fully ban semi-automatic hand guns and semi-automatic rifles, in order to live freely without the constant threat of gun violence, school shootings, workplace shootings, or at play.

But what about the Second Amendment and the constitutional right to own a gun?

Yes a person enjoys a U.S. Second Amendment right to own a gun.

But what kind of gun? A bazooka? A semi-automatic hand gun that can kill a dozen people in seconds?

A person enjoys a U.S. Constitutional right to own non-repeating firearms, such as a bolt-action single shot rifle; or a revolver or a shotgun.

When our Founding Fathers wrote the Second Amendment these type non-repeating firearms were the guns in existence at that time.

Our Founding Fathers did not write the Second Amendment to authorize the public possession of a gun that could kill more people in 30 seconds than ten 18th century U.S. Army soldiers firing for 60 seconds.

If you could trravel back in time, visit George Washington and bring along a pallet of AK-47s and a pallet of semi-automatic hand guns, do you think George would want to make these weapons available for public purchase and ownership?

Absolutely not.

General Washington would certainly intend these semi-automatic weapons to be possessed and used by U.S. Army soldiers only.

GOP U.S. Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas pride themselves on being "Originalists" or "Textualists" who absolutely believe that the U.S. Constitution only applies to persons and things that existed the day the U.S. Const. was ratified on June 21, 1788.

Guess what? There were no semi-automatic weapons in existence in 1788; therefore pursuant to justices Alito and Thomas' own legal logic, semi-automatic hand guns and semi-automatic rifles are patently unconstitutional under the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

GOPer Alito is infamous for saying he believes transgenders didn't exist in 1788 and therefore, the U.S. Const. doesn't apply to transgenders.

Worse, Alito laments the fact there is no Religious Right to Discriminate, which is precisely what Alito wants. Alito signalled he hopes someone would file a lawsuit that would allow him to make a landmark ruling establishing a religious right to discriminate based on one's religious beliefs.

Alito wants the head of Jim Oberfell on his desk so Alito can overturn same-sex marriage on the basis of Alito's so-called imaginary religious right to discriminate against persons Alito disapproves of on the basis of sex or sexual orientation.
